Identifying continuous expansion, both demographically and economically, as drivers of the unsustainability of current ecologies and societies, Queer Sanctuaries is a Damaged World is an academic and artistic research project that asks how dance and performance can create spaces to explore new social relations that are not based on compulsory competition and heteropatriarchy

The research is led by Professor Gerry Kearns, an academic in the Department of Geography, Maynooth University. Professor Karen Till also at Maynooth University and independent dance artist and researcher, Dr Fearghus Ó Conchúir, in partnership with the Project Arts Centre, Dublin.
